Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem when the people placed palm branches on his path into the city. This took place before His eventual arrest on Holy Thursday and His crucifixion on Good Friday. It marks the very beginning of Holy Week and the final week of Lent. The palm branch is a symbol of peace, victory, and triumph dating all the way back to ancient times. The laying of palms on the path Jesus took into the city is significant as it symbolizes His ultimate victory, victory over sin and death, that saved all believers and allows us an everlasting life with the Father. Palm Sunday celebrates victory over sin and commemorates the end of Jesus’ time and ministry on Earth.
